Ebbtide Guides

What is Ebbtide?

Ebbtide is a real-time zombie survival strategy game developed and published by ProjectAlive. You lead TF-1 Ark through a campaign that starts in Los Angeles, from the Hollywood Hills to the Port of LA. The operations map and the street-level battlefield are connected: you can zoom into a live fight, then return to the wider campaign without a separate mission loading screen.

The campaign brings together military command, survivor evacuation, forward base construction, and logistics. Soldiers and equipment lost in battle stay lost on the map, while ammunition, fuel, and building materials have to reach your bases. The Nexus directs the horde against convoys, roads, bases, and stranded units. Your campaign continues beyond Los Angeles with the forces and supplies you bring aboard the Ark.

Ebbtide System Requirements

Steam lists Windows and macOS support. The published requirements are preliminary: Windows CPU and GPU specifications, the macOS version, and final Apple Silicon requirements are still to be announced.

WindowsWindows 10 64-bit, a 64-bit processor, DirectX 11, and 10 GB of available storage are listed.
MacThe macOS requirements specify an Apple processor and Apple Silicon; the final specifications are not yet listed.
LanguagesSteam lists 11 supported languages, including English, Korean, French, German, Spanish, Japanese, and Portuguese.

Ebbtide Operations Map

Zoom from the operations map into any street and the live battlefield continues without a loading screen. Returning to the map does not hide an auto-resolved battle: casualties and destroyed buildings carry back into the campaign.

PacePause the operations map or run it at up to 4x speed.
DistrictsLos Angeles has 15 districts with Hold, Crisis, and Lost states.
VisibilityThe map shows only hordes within your forces' line of sight.
EvacuateMove troops, supplies, and refugees with truck and helicopter convoys.

Ebbtide Base Building

Choose where to establish a forward operating base, then build its defenses and supply facilities. Soldiers, vehicles, and aircraft can rearm and refuel only at bases you hold, so building a perimeter and keeping a base supplied are connected systems.

DefensesHESCO and concrete walls, gates, scaffolding, gun nests, CIWS, and mortar pits form the base-building toolkit.
FacilitiesAmmo depots, fuel points, and lighting support your forward positions.
SupplyBuilding materials arrive by hooklift truck or helicopter sling. The horde can cut the roads and attack your convoys.

Ebbtide Combat and Controls

Command formations and combat stances at squad level, or take direct control of a unit. ProjectAlive's Steam description identifies TAB as the switch into direct control of a soldier, tank, or helicopter.

CommandOrder National Guard, LAPD, and LA County Sheriff's units to hold, delay, or withdraw; call in Marines from Camp Pendleton.
ControlPress TAB to take direct control of a soldier, tank, or helicopter, as described on the Steam page.
ThreatZombies pile up to reach walls and rooftops, cling to low-hovering helicopters, and turn fallen soldiers into new zombies.

Ebbtide Vehicles

The announced force includes ground vehicles, troop transports, and attack helicopters. Vehicles are part of the same logistics network as infantry: fuel and ammunition have to reach bases before they can replenish your units.

GroundTanks, Bradleys, LAVs, and Humvees are named in the official description.
AirApache and Viper attack helicopters provide aerial combat options.
TransportTroops can fast-rope from Black Hawks or deploy from helicopters landing on rooftops.
ChinookProjectAlive's demonstration shows the Chinook carrying squads and Humvees.

Ebbtide Fire Support

Call fire support from either the operations map or the battlefield. The official description also makes the limits clear: ship magazines are finite, and heavy weapons can destroy buildings.

ArtilleryM777 howitzers and HIMARS rockets.
NavalDestroyer guns and Tomahawk cruise missiles.
AirstrikesCarrier F/A-18s, F-15E, F-35B, and A-10 strikes.
OrbitsAC-130J gunship and MQ-9 drone orbits.

Ebbtide Campaign

The people, troops, equipment, and supplies evacuated to the Port of LA become your starting force aboard the Ark. From there, the campaign moves into a wider world of regional operations, friendly ports, and the search for the Nexus.

ArkCarry survivors and resources out of Los Angeles to form the force for the world campaign.
FleetChoose regions to help, bring carrier-group weapons into range, resupply at friendly ports, and add allied warships.
NexusThe horde's hive mind ambushes convoys, cuts roads, and hunts stranded units. The campaign includes finding its hidden command nodes.
